We want to get kids ready for their return to school by putting on a free self defense workshop for kids at both Gracie Barra Nottingham and Gracie Barra Arnold. We want them to feel fully prepared and empowered for when they go back to school, and this is the best place to start.
Known as “The Gentle Art”, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uses leverage and proper technique to teach a smaller and weaker person to successfully defend against a bigger opponent. It is the perfect martial art for kids to help teach them how to defend themselves. You don’t need to be fast or strong, you just need the proper techniques and timing.
The class will look at common bullying scenarios and teach children BJJ based techniques to effectively react safely against them. As well as the physical techniques, we teach children to fight fire with water so that they know how to diffuse a situation without it becoming physical. We do this through discussing body language and how to use their words instead.
When children know how to tackle bullying in a safe and controlled way, they will have the self-confidence to stand up for themselves and their friends if they’re ever in a situation where they need to.
The workshops are suitable for kids aged 7 and over, please see below for the dates and times for each workshop:
Gracie Barra Nottingham – Sunday 24th of September at 1:00pm
Gracie Barra Arnold – Saturday 2nd of September at 3:00pm
